15-year-old Japanese-American singer Kylee will provide her first movie theme song for the Hans Canosa film “Dareka ga Watashi ni Kiss wo Shita,” which stars Maki Horikita (21) and Kenichi Matsuyama (24). In addition to singing, Kylee is also making her acting debut in the film.

Kylee, who hails from Arizona, first gained fame in 2005 when she sang the national anthem at an NBA game. In 2008, she debuted in Japan with the single “VACANCY,” and in 2009 she became the youngest artist ever to perform at the Summer Sonic music festival.

Canosa saw Kylee perform last year when he visited Japan for the movie, and he is said to have noticed Kylee’s ability for acting as well. He immediately gave the singer a role as an underclassman at the international high school where the story takes place. Kylee’s song “Kimi ga Iru Kara” will be used as the film’s theme song, and another song by her will be used during the film. “Kimi ga Iru Kara” will go on sale as a single on March 24.

The movie, also known by the earlier working title “Nakushita Kioku,” is an adaptation of Gabrielle Zevin’s novel “Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac.” Horikita plays a high school student who loses part of her memory in an accident. In addition to Matsuyama, NEWS member Yuya Tegoshi (22) and American actor Anton Yelchin (20) have been cast. The film opens in theaters on March 27.

Interview:

1. Interviewer – Please, tell me why you decided to work on this film?
Ken’ichi – Well, I’ve never had the chance to work with a foreign director, so I thought it would be very interesting. Hans Canosa also directed Conversations With Other Woman (2005 film) and used never before seen techniques. I want to be significant and able to do things in a new way. We’re also interested in whether how this is directed will work and I wanted to be helpful and adjust.

2. Interviewer – While shooting was the new technique difficult to learn?
Ken’ichi – Before we began to shoot, “You and Horikita, the majority of the time won’t perform together.” was said. It was basically a problem in scheduling. In Japan, the shooting method wasn’t considered very new. Between the actors not even the mutual influence could change acting in a position without power.

3. Interviewer – Is there a part which uses new Directing?
Ken’ichi – I thought it was really good when I turned the camera and watched it after I got out of a test. We tested it about 10 times from a single scene. I had to keep trying different things and I received more requests. So ignoring the role I had, I tried to leave it up to the Directing. The performance that came out of this is the new directing you’re thinking of.

4. Interviewer – How do you view the romantic love of the protagonist?
Ken’ichi – Horikita who plays Naomi is very quick to change. As Yuji, I’m a bit lonely. Most people view romantic love of teenagers as impossible, but I think it was certain. Naomi who has amnesia doesn’t fall in love excessively, which is good.

5. Interviewer – Anton Yelchin costars and plays the part of Ace?
Ken’ichi – We had a scene together and it was really fun.The actor is very
interested in Japan and Akira Kurosawa’s work. He only startedacting when he was only 19. When he revisited Japan for the promotion ofTerminator 4, we went out to eat and he said if we have a chance to worktogether that would be great.

6. Interviewer – The staff and actors/actresses from America, culture shock?
Ken’ichi – Because it is shooting in Japan, the Americans are being more serious. I’m accustomed to what we eat here, but the foreigners at lunch are like “Why would you cool boiled rice and not eat it as is?” (on the western shooting sites,they offer warm meal catering). I just don’t think I’ll understand how they feel.

7. Interviewer – Good moments while filming?
Ken’ichi – The Director was able to work very well and I enjoyed it. Before we started working the Director and I got very close. We talked about where I was born and the feeling of why I’m here. We talked about many things. There aren’t many directors who are interested in these things.

8. Interviewer – When did you meet the Director for the first time?
Ken’ichi – When it still wasn’t decided when we would shootand I still hadn’t met the cast. The Director and I met at a pub by chance and we drank without knowing what would happen. Later, all of the staff including the Americans visited a shrine in Asakuza.

9. Interviewer – Any particularly fun scenes?
Ken’ichi – There is a scene where I’m likely to be projected on the screen next to the images actually taken. The Director told me he wanted me to be seen by the people who see the movie. It was really fun and I got to see a little bit of myself.
It was new and the person who is clearly shown may be better.

10. Interviewer – Goals for the future?
Ken’ichi – I’ve been receiving a lot of work as of now, and I hope to continue like this. I’d like to make more and more films for the fans.I hope people can reflect on my acting and enjoy my performance.

Japanese studio Toei has pre-sold US-Japan co-production Memoirs Of A Teenage Amnesiac to Hong Kong distributor Golden Scene.

Directed by New York-based filmmaker Hans Canosa, the film revolves around a girl at an international school in Tokyo who loses four years of memory after an accident.

It stars Japan�s hottest heartthrob, Kenichi Matsuyama, and Maki Horikita who shot to stardom with her performance in blockbuster Always: Sunset On Third Street 2. US actor Anton Yelchin and Yuya Tegoshi, a member of J-pop group News, round out the cast.

Filmed in both the US and Japan, the film is a co-production between the director�s own production outfit, Canosa Productions, and a Japanese production committee. Around 40% of the dialogue is in English and the rest in Japanese.

Canosa was winner of the special jury prize at the Tokyo “International Film Festival” in 2005 for Conversations With Other Women.

Memoirs Of A Teenage Amnesiac will be released into theatres March 27, 2010!

Last November, it was announced that Maki Horikita (21) and Kenichi Matsuyama (24) were co-starring in a movie tentatively called “Nakushita Kioku,” directed by American filmmaker Hans Canosa. On Sunday, a press conference was held to announce the film’s release window and official title.

The picture will be titled “Dareka ga Watashi ni Kiss wo Shita” and is slated for theatrical release in March 2010. Based on the novel “Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac” by American author Gabrielle Zevin, the story tells of a high school student (Horikita) who loses part of her memory in an accident.

Although the movie is in Japanese, Horikita’s character attends an international school, so about 40% of her lines are in English. She commented that she was surprised when she first saw the script, and she had a lot of trouble with the English lines. However, Canosa praised her, saying that she has the potential to become an international star.

NEWS member Yuya Tegoshi (21) and American actor Anton Yelchin (20) have also been cast in the movie.
